April Afternoons
MorgueFile by GaborfromHungary
wait, spring will find you
look for emergent grubs under the
underbrush
when newly hatched birds
are hungriest
or motes that dance on
pale afternoon light
through slanted windows
its warmth teaches
glimmering seedlings to push
through dirt and claim their spot
advancing spring claims its horizon
shadows thicken
the gloaming finds us both
in its gentled hand
a tinkle
of glasses marks a win at cards
