The moon dances

     in step

with  the silver

     of star light’s reflection caught

in the light of you

  as we detail our tensions

in muscles long fraught—

Each one a road

Not so long ago

the moon’s door

stood ajar,

its darkness, an invitation

   to excess.

  6. Classic and romantic in a two-step like the moon and starlight, the tense muscles now and the excess then.....so fine.

  10. Hi Audrey, I think this is your best for a while - precisely phrased and measured - intensely poetic... For example:

    "we detail our tensions

    in muscles long fraught"

And, as you must have known when you first wrote it - how perfectly crisp and true is:

    "the moon’s door

    stood ajar,

    its darkness, an invitation

    to excess."

A real pleasure to read - thank you... With Best Wishes Scott

  13. Audrey,

Living life's excesses seems a little less often these days!! Agility and all else make changes to life we cannot always control...We can but try, when the notion takes us:)

  15. It's good to see how the moon's light or shadows play with human emotions in different ways. One can go to excesses when the big stick is not a deterrent! Wonderful write Audrey!
