winter blooms
sending cool thoughts
to heated days

we wait
turn clocks

a light in the window
at dusk

i begin again
to cover you
when you arrive

  1. Audrey! How wonderful! Gorgeous to be knitting for a new little life on its way. That will help with the empty nest!!!!! I cant wait to see the poems you will write to the new little wayfarer. Is this one the first?

    1. This is the first one Sherry! We have been helping the happy couple along on their adventure and now we are all just counting down days until Max arrives

  2. What a beautiful poem, Audrey. I am sure you will enjoy every stitch you make of that blanket, knowing that it will cover that little Max when he arrives! How lucky he is to have you making things for him like this.

  3. Oh Audrey many congrats....how wonderful the anticipation to welcome this beauty new life. I have no children but my eldest niece just had a baby boy, Finley, and I felt like a grandmother or how I supposed a grandmother would feel.

  4. A tender poem and a lovely Christmas present for your family.

  5. My goodness! ❤️ Congratulations, Audrey! ❤️ I think it's lovely that you're knitting and preparing for the baby to come. Wishing you and your family loads of happiness! ❤️

  6. My mother made blankets for each of our boys, and in a few more years I am sure we will follow you down that trail toward grandparenthood. Congrats on the new life in your family Audrey.

purl, cool word. A kind of stitch. I looked it up.

  7. Congrats on becoming a grandmother. I like the "knit purl, to cover you when you arrive". Touching.

  8. Love the delicate expectancy you've captured here. Wonderful news - and the choice of name is a favorite of mine.

  9. i begin again knit purl
to cover you when you arrive

Grandmas will always be expected to make themselves busy to prepare for the special person's impending arrival. Congrats Audrey!

  10. What a wonderful and cozy image you paint... This sounds like a perfect way to spend holidays.

  11. Congrats!!! What a great name too. Max is my eldest's name.

  12. Love the mood and setting your created mixed with the loving action, knit and purl.

  13. Lovely words for a soon-to-be bundle of joy. Congrats
    Anna :o]
