The Smaller Me

i looked today for the smaller me
the one that is more difficult to see

the one i lose most often

she sat on a small rift of sand
a displacement of water beneath her

neither she nor i felt the sand shift

  1. Beautiful indeed, Audrey.

We tend to come under peer pressure that lose our true self.

    Welcome back :)

  3. This has so much meaning to it...smaller me: my shadow, my other "self", a child, ego...it all works. Your poems are so incredible, Audrey. Love them! :)

  4. Awww, the subtle changes we go through that we don't even notice. Then, looking back over the landscape of our lives, we wonder how and when those changes happened. :)

  7. Yes, self realization indeed. I think each of us probably has a 'smaller me' that we need to come to terms with....somehow.

  10. An after thought...I always tend to view the me in the here and now small, and the other part of me "higher" or large. Quite opposite of what you've expressed in this poem, which I find extremely interesting. Makes me ponder about this even more...

  11. it is good to take time to look for the smaller us...we do often lose them in our adult world...its wonderful to reconnect....

  12. I like this perspective - rather than seeking out the bigger us.

  15. Audrey, this is wonderful on many levels. I love the images here, and most definitely connecting with our smaller selves. Not an easy feat some times.
