Consequences
The Morgue File
by laura musikanski
i bumped against you accidentally
in the candy section of the local Pik 'n Shop
pondering choices both
desirous and poisonous
you smiled,
as i had hoped you would
pearlies gleaming,
your lashes dancing
as i lost myself
between one heart beat and another.
the viccistudes of a sugar rush
held at bay,
until my choice was made.
regret seems futile, don't you agree?

Clever! I love all the details-I wanted more :D
ReplyDeleteI do agree!
ReplyDeleteI admire your talent!
Yes it does...must be a powerful smile to get between you and your candy. :)

ReplyDeleteRegrets? Never at the Candy Shop!
ReplyDeleteLoved this. Great poetic sugar rush.
ReplyDeleteThose situations when the might-have-beens wake up with a start ... sigh. But choices - both desirous and poisonous - have consequences and regret is futile. A lovely bittersweet piece, beautifully sketched, Audrey.
