A Leaf Smiles

The Morgue File

It fits somehow
that leaves fall
in the wake of tears
leaving behind what they have known

They smile as they touch the earth
grace the soil
with joy.

  5. A lovely & haunting message attached with this one, for perhaps, we hope that Gold/Nature/the Universe has a plan; yet I still wonder about mosquitos.

  6. That is such a joyful poem, thank you, Audrey, for giving us a new way of thinking about falling leaves. Not melancholy but gracing the soil with joy. Just perfect!

  8. Beautiful. It's amazing you could share so much about yourself in such a short poem. But, I think your heart comes through here so well.

  9. "They smile as they touch the earth
    grace the soil
    with joy."

I think your poem says a great deal about how we should live and die, letting go of sorrow and embracing joy, up until the very last brush sweep of leaf against ground.
